As PP asked, is it your child or another child? If it's your child, presumably you have a nut-free house: in that case, you can make the frosting (I know it's probably not what you wanted to hear but it's not too bad -- recipe in Sophie's Kitchen). If it's for another family's child, as PP suggested, call first. You are so kind to try and do this but honestly (and you know this already if it's for your own child), it is so risky for parents of kids with severe nut allergies that they often would prefer to save you the trouble and provide their own cake/cupcake. Our DC is egg/dairy/wheat/soy intolerant and we avoid nuts: I am always so grateful for parents who try but it's also easier on everyone if we just bring the cupcake that guarantees no one has to deal with an allergic reaction (it's not fun if the allergic child starts throwing up, breaking out, or in a worst case scenario goes into shock). Good luck: I sympathize!
