As PP asked, is it your child or another child?

If it's your child, presumably you have a nut-free house: in that case, you can make the frosting (I know it's probably not what you wanted to hear but it's not too bad -- recipe in Sophie's Kitchen).

If it's for another family's child, as PP suggested, call first. You are so kind to try and do this but honestly (and you know this already if it's for your own child), it is so risky for parents of kids with severe nut allergies that they often would prefer to save you the trouble and provide their own cake/cupcake. Our DC is egg/dairy/wheat/soy intolerant and we avoid nuts: I am always so grateful for parents who try but it's also easier on everyone if we just bring the cupcake that guarantees no one has to deal with an allergic reaction (it's not fun if the allergic child starts throwing up, breaking out, or in a worst case scenario goes into shock).

We have nut allergies in our house, and when I called Sticky Fingers to order a cake a few years ago they told me their items are not safe for people with nut allergies because of cross contamination issues - which I assume is a concern for op since she requested a nut free cake (many bday cakes do not have nuts - vanilla and chocolate for easy examples - but that's not what people tend to mean when they want a nut free cake).

You might want to check with the parents. You are going to a lot of trouble for them, yet they still might not be comfortable with their child eating the cake, depending on the severity of the allergy.

You can get nut free items at Sticky Fingers. Some people's allergies are so severe that they require a nut free facility. I would check with the parent of the kid who has the allergies. Send them the link to the bakery.

Does anyone know of a bakery in the MOCO area that makes dairy/egg/nut free birthday cakes? The bakery I had in mind just contacted me and told me they ran out of the dairy free buttercream that they need for the frosting so I'm out of luck for a bday party I'm hosting this weekend. Would appreciate any recommendations that you may have. This is for a kid's birthday cake. I could make it on my own but there are a lot of people so that's not going to be possible with my schedule. Thanks!
