This is my husband EXACTLY.

Why?
- less experience than I have about time management with housework. Actually, he is always rubbish at time management in any sphere. A little ADD there.
- less experience than I have about inviting people over, and what is going to get noticed, what is not, what they really need (food and drink, not a double-mopped floor with a stinky detergent!).

And the problem is...
He can never acknowledge that he should follow my list of priorities! 
The more I remind him about the stuff that needs to get done, the more oppositional he becomes, like a toddler.
It makes me angry that I have to do it all myself, put everything else in my life on hold and start 2 weeks before the party.
Also, if I dare to move his stuff because it's in the way and has noticeable cobwebs and a 2 inches of dust, he goes ballistic.

But, there is hope...
Now that DC1 is 9, he is a reliable cleaner-upper. Even 4 year old DC2 helps by fetching and carrying.

Sorry, I'm grumpy - just had 2 parties back-to-back and DH was no help at all!
