My DD applied and was accepted to C of C as one of her safeties and, thankfully, she has chosen another school to attend - more liberal in the NE. We were always a but weary of her going to school in the South (herself included) for these reasons. Now I'm glad she's not there since I wouldn't want her school to be guided by someone who has no clue about education. Why in the world would any reputable college hire someone to lead it who has never worked in the education field!?
I don't know anything about this particular guy bc I haven't read the articles but judging from the headlines I think he was a poor choice and I am sad for CoC. However, many college presidents have no or little prior work experience in education. Being a college president is mostly a fundraising/ administrative / public affairs position. It's often former public figures, etc.
