If you know DC would be better off NOT going to an Ivy or similar, why in the world would you push DC to position him/herself to be admitted to an Ivy and kick yourself if DC doesn't get in?? This makes zero sense. Isn't the sole reason for going to an Ivy (or similar) school because you think that somehow you/your child will be better off (however you define that) for doing so? WTH?[/quote]I think DC would love to be accepted at a very selective school, it would be a confidence booster. I also know I have not pushed DC nearly as much as some other parents, because I would want the motivation to be internal, not external. And maybe I'm wrong thinking DC needs a more low-key situation.  :?:  :?:  I DO second-guess myself though. I believe DC will not respond well to the stress of a selective school because there has been almost no academic stress so far in life, it's alien. Maybe I should have provided some stress, similar to how we vaccinate kids so they can handle pathogens later. I think my parenting style may be more  "Boy in the Bubble"
