We've heard such wonderful things about Creative Minds, but have started to hear some criticism about their ED/Principal (Golnar...?); doesn't respond to feedback and constructive criticism, among other challenging characteristics. I'm wondering if any CPI families or teachers would be willing to share their thoughts or experience?
I would not even know that CM exist if not for this forum, and I do not even know where it is. But if you really are a person who would like to have info on the school, I think you should go to the school, talk to the administration yourself, ask the parents around and so on. soliciting answers from a anonymous forum does not stike me like a good idea (I did not do it when I was reaserching the school I was interested in. went there and got feedback from real people - randon parents, friends of friends, neighbors and so on)
Not OP, but, really? What exactly is the purpose of a "DC Public and Public Charter School" forum if not to discuss the public and public charter schools? It is fine if you do not want to discuss them (no one makes you come here are read the threads), and no one is saying that decisions should be made on info from this forum alone. But to think that is not actually the whole point of this forum is ridiculous.
I agree with both of the previous 2 PPs: DCUM is absolutely a good place to ask for feedback, because the anonymity cuts both ways: sometimes you get MORE honest feedback than you would in person, and sometimes you get made up stuff and it's not always easy to tell the difference. Also, many parents researching schools don't know anyone who goes to each school currently, so that's another reason it's a good idea to come here. Already in this thread there is some real feedback, and it's disingenous to assume that any negative feedback is somehow not from a real parent. On the other hand, there is NOTHING like going your self and experiencing the school yourself, in whatever small way you can. We ruled out CM exactly because of our interactions with the Principal and some of the staff, although there were other staff who were great at the Open House, expos, and one time we went to the school when it wasn't an open house. So we've had both experiences, but it was the in person interactions that simplified for us that it wasn't a good fit for us. But there are MANY parents we've met who absolutely love it, so it's obviously a good fit for a lot of people and there are MANY trying to go. Combine the feedback you read here when you research any and all in person, real person feedback and engagement you can get. That's the best way to weigh a school you're serious about. Does anyone know if CM will do a public lottery this year for a change, so that its' all out in the open?
