OP I have 2 friends and a family member with carefirst, all of them complain about the severe lack of "good" choices in the area of mental health practitioners. Knowing that, I would search the carefirst directory for psychiatrists close to you, then google them to see if you get any feedback on them. when you call them confirm that they take your insurance because I have noticed that the carefirst website lists a lot of docs who are indicated as accepting carefirst but actually do not. I would also call Childrens and Kennedy Krieger TOMORROW and get an appointment with one of their psychiatrists. you will probably be on a wait list but since you already have a DX, and therefore probably dont need a full assessment maybe the wait will be less.
