PP that isn't nice, likely OP had a really rough day with her daughter and turned here for help. I agree that resisting meds is crazy when a child needs them but sounds like she is starting to realize that. The honest truth is that special needs kids do strain the family.

OP hope you find someone good to help you with your daughter. I can tell you to avoid Inova Behavioral Health, I had bad experience there.

Can you switch next year to plan with out of network coverage, its only way I can manage with my HFA son. The few I found in network had months long wait.

Also--something to consider is to pay out of pocket until you switch. We had two visits for 250 each for initial assessment and then it was 200 every three months. So all in all, $1000 out of pocket and I used my pretax account for it and my son was so much happier and doing better. For us, it was worth the sacrifice and then the next year, I switched to plan that allowed out of network reimbursement (70%).

But who at Children's takes this insurance, not assessments, but weekly sessions??

I seriously doubt that there are any competent child psychiatrist that takes ANY insurance at all outside of Children's and KKI. If anyone knows of one, I'll love to hear.

For all practical purposes there are no competent child psychiatrists on Bc/Bs. Reimbursement is too low, and demand is too high.

I have CareFirst and agree the mental health network is terrible. I haven't found a psychologist at Children's that takes CareFirst.

OP I have 2 friends and a family member with carefirst, all of them complain about the severe lack of "good" choices in the area of mental health practitioners.

Knowing that, I would search the carefirst directory for psychiatrists close to you, then google them to see if you get any feedback on them. when you call them confirm that they take your insurance because I have noticed that the carefirst website lists a lot of docs who are indicated as accepting carefirst but actually do not.
I would also call Childrens and Kennedy Krieger TOMORROW and get an appointment with one of their psychiatrists. you will probably be on a wait list but since you already have a DX, and therefore probably dont need a full assessment maybe the wait will be less.
