Meh, I am betting not. But it was approved by the School Board last year and they just released some feedback from the kids in the program. Sadly, they let it be open enrollment which means it's a pretty useless program for the kids who really want to learn. It would be nice if the Board could step up and have some backbone and demand some standards. They polled the kids in the program and the comments were overwhelming with the fact that too many kids who don't want to be there disrupt those who do. The grade distribution shows plenty of Cs, Ds, and Fs in core subject you would think a STEM program would expect students to excel in. http://esbpublic.acps.k12.va.us/public_itemview.aspx?ItemId=4827&mtgId=491
School Board members will probably reserve spaces for their own kids, like they do re transfers between schools.
Some of the School Board members don't even have kids. And I doubt they would put their kids in this kind of program. They are probably going to send their kids to private school by 4th grade so take heart, lots of transfer spaces should be available.
