[quote=Anonymous]I recently moved in with my cousin (we are early 20's). I haven't seen her mom (my aunt) in years since her and my uncle divorced over 10 years ago and my uncle is the blood relative. I have been sleeping on a piece of foam on the floor for the past 3 years and my aunt graciously offered to long-term loan me a bed that she had been keeping in storage. I stupidly said yes sight-unseen, because the prospect of having a real bed was just so exciting. So, they made the 4 hour round trip to drop it off today while I was at work... The mattress is really nice, but they couldn't fit the box spring up the stair case and the frame/headboard is a HUGE PINE MONSTROSITY. I am seriously kicking myself for not asking what it looked like beforehand - so dumb of me. Being happy with the way my bedroom looks is important to me - I don't own a lot of furniture (see piece of foam on the floor for years) but the pieces I do own for my bedroom match and are a very different style from pine monstrosity. If I keep the frame/headboard, I will hate it for the next 6+ months I'm going to be living here. I will also have to find/make slats since the box spring couldn't fit upstairs. I could just use the mattress and keep the frame/headboard in storage, but I feel like my cousin might be upset (we are close but she has little tolerance for bratty behaviour, which I'm pretty sure this is). I don't think she'll get the whole "matching furniture/aesthetic" thing. If I did this, I'd just build a platform to keep the mattress on. This is the option I really want to take - keep the mattress and move the frame to storage - but I don't want to offend my cousin/aunt. I realize I'm probably going to be scolded for all this, and trust me I'm kicking myself for not thinking about this scenario beforehand. But I've been living with roommates since I was 18 and my room is my only private space in the world. I want to be happy in it. How can I get this thing out of my room and keep everyone happy?
