OP here- Thanks for the responses. Do any of you take water out with you while you run? If so, what kind of container do you use? I'm trying to break away from my treadmill but I haven't been able to find a nuisance free way to stay hydrated. What brand of socks do you recommend? Thanks!
How long to you run? I'm a new runner as well, and transitioned to outside when I could run around 20-25 minutes. I usually do 30 minute continuous runs, or 60-90 minute run/walk combinations. When I transitioned to outside, I stopped drinking water during workouts. If you're hydrated before and re-hydrate after, you should be fine. It might be difficult in the beginning, but there will always be some challenges adapting to outside (incline, surface, temperature, winds, etc). I'd suggest giving it a go on a nice day. If you can't do your usual amount, that's fine, but still try it. You will adjust over time. That said, I regularly see people running outside with either a water bottle in their hands, or on a belt. So someone may chime in with a recommendation if you find you really need water during runs.
