My 10+ year marriage seems to be falling apart. We need help in a lot of areas. Does anyone have any good recommendations for therapists that are proactive and really get to the bottom of issues quickly. Please. We are in the Herndon area but are willing to travel if the therapist is worth it.
Consider looking for solution oriented therapy. I've also heard it called "SOTB" or solution oriented brief therapy. Instead of trying to find the cause of issues which can sometimes take forever and go back to your childhood, they look for the actions you can take to improve things now. The entire point is to help things get better fast. On the flip side, I've heard that it is similar to putting a band-aid on the problems, but won't really solve them. Still, I think it would be better to see improvement fast. You always have the option to continue with more traditional therapy to get to the bottom of things later. But if you don't see improvement fast, you may not still have a marriage, depending on just how bad your situation is.
