I would like to cut the cord. We still need internet and landline (for fire sprinkler system and alarm company). We currently have FIOS triple play. I would like to drop HD extreme FIOS TV and keep the internet and landline at their current rate ($65 total, I think). I think FIOS extreme TV is about $75 per month. Has anyone succesfully been able to negotiate such a deal with Verizon? Alternatively, I can keep the internet only. But I still need landline. Is anyone aware of any cheap landline options in MD? Also, I plan to get a Roku box. I still would like to watch some shows on ABC, CBS, and NBC. Can I get them from ROKU? Thanks in advance.
You can watch the major networks in HD using an HD antenna box (plugged into the cable input on the TV). We use a Terk brand antenna box. Then, we watch movies and cable TV shows on the Roku box in HD using the Amazon channel, which IMO is much better than Netflix. It's faster, and it has all of our new shows that netflix doesn't. Hulu has commercials, and we don't use it, but I am not sure if it has all the same content as the Amazon channel. With an Amazon prime membership for $80/year, you get the free Amazon prime channel content, plus free shipping, plus free books for a Kindle. Its a great deal.
