Is it harder to get into magnet MS than it is to get into HGC or magnet HS? Because this is a 17% acceptance rate!!
Hard to say. There is a humanities MS magnet at Eastern and both a STEM and Humanities magnet at Roberto Clemente. If each is around 100 kids, then that's 425 or so spots. There are about 350 HGC spots, and the number of kids who applied at each varies. The principal at ours said that ~350 applied for 50 slots, but I think this is higher than normal. We're probably not going to apply to the MS magnet because of the long commute; over an hour and a half on the bus. I know several other kids in the same boat. It's my feeling that the MS might pull from a smaller area because they're not spread out like the HGCs, but I have no data to back that up. I've heard of kids that didn't get into the HGC who made it into the MS magnet and vice-versa.
I think RC has only 100 spots, 50 for each program.
