I was told that all AAP 3rd graders should know their multiplication tables before the start of the school year. So I have been trying to get DS to memorize them without much success. He is a really bright kid but hates learning things by heart, he prefers to calculate or derive things. How can I get him to learn the tables? Any suggestions? TIA
Same situation with my child! But, we were told at the Archer orientation that they should know addition & subtraction well and will learn multiplication at school. He gets multiplication, but wants to calculate and not memorize the facts so he goes slower.
