Very close to Washington-Lee HS.  Ballston.  We had friends over here that liked the neighborhood.

This one is cute (aside from weird fridge selection).  Further walk to Ballston, but you have all of those Cherrydale shops (hardware store, yoga, tea shop, etc.).

I think this would be walkable to both EFC Metro and Westover (grocery store, beer garden, hardware store, Lost Dog, etc.).  Great community there.

A little further from Westover, still near EFC metro.  We have friends at Tuckahoe and they love it.

This one is in a great location - Lyon Park right by a nice playground.  There are some cosmetic things that are a little funny, but it's worth a look IMO just based on location.  Great neighborhood - tons of kids and friendly neighbors. Hopefully that espresso machine conveys.

I think they would all offer a bit of what you are looking for.  I would just focus your search based on price and distance/walk time to Metro and see what pops up.  [/quote]
