OP here, We want to move because they have started charging for a basic checking account. They want us to upsell to some kind of rewards account, but all we want is basic checking. This account is only for day-to-day expenses and bill paying. Emergency fund is elsewhere. We are considering USAA, or possibly PNC. If we got USAA, I don't know what we'd do about a safe deposit box, CapOne only lets you rent a box if you have an account there.
I've been a very happy USAA customer for years. If you can get the safe-deposit box piece ironed out, I definitely recommend them. For years they have rebated the fees that you have had to pay to use ATMs at other banks, but now that there are so many USAA ATMs at CVS, you don't even have to worry about that part. You can also make USAA withdrawals free from PNC's machines. I think that if you do it over, say, a month, you can take care of any automatic debits/deposits that you have coming in.
