For kids who get really involved there are great benefits and access to the administration.  Class sizes are small and professors and advisors are accessible.  Niece appreciates that there are no teaching assistants.  Fairly conservative campus but niece says she has all  kinds of friends.  Newport News is okay in the immediate vicinity of the campus, but it has its fair share of problems to be sure.  The CNU alert system keeps kids and parents up to date via text message whenever anything is going on on campus or the surrounding area. That being said, there are lots of interesting things to do in the tidewater area and niece says she generally as way too many options.  It's definitely worth a visit to compare it to other state options.[/quote]
