I understand why people buy from breeders (even though I disagree and wish everyone would adopt rescue and shelter dogs). Reputable breeders who use good breeding practices produce healthy, family-friendly dogs. Dogs sold in retail stores OTOH are puppy mill dogs. If you google puppy mill you will see some of the horrors of these operations. Allowing the retail sale of these poor creatures perpetuates this horror. The retail sale of pets (as distinguished from sales by reputable breeders) should be banned.[/quote]
