I've found the Korean bakeries/coffeeshops in NoVa have less-sweet pastries. Not much in the way of puff pastry, but the soft dough items are delicious.
Any recos? I go to Reston and Vienna often.
Shilla (they have a couple of NoVa locations) and Jireh on 29 in Centreville are both very good. Jireh has a vanilla cream pastry kind of like a cheese danish that's amazing. They also label in Korean and English so I can avoid the red bean ones easily (tried and decided I'm not a fan). DH got my birthday cake at Jireh a couple of years ago- quite sweet and decadent, so they can cover whatever craving I have.
