Any recos? I go to Reston and Vienna often.

Shilla (they have a couple of NoVa locations) and Jireh on 29 in Centreville are both very good. Jireh has a vanilla cream pastry kind of like a cheese danish that's amazing. They also label in Korean and English so I can avoid the red bean ones easily (tried and decided I'm not a fan). DH got my birthday cake at Jireh a couple of years ago- quite sweet and decadent, so they can cover whatever craving I have.

Heidelberg Pastry in Arlington tends to have less-sweet stuff and they will make many of their products with reduced sugar. I used them for a low-sugar baby shower and was very happy with the results.

I am from India. We like plenty of sugar in our sweets and there isn't much in the way of baked good there. I've been eating low-glycemic for several years now and find the too sweet stuff unpalatable.

You might try La Fonda on Georgia Avenue. It is just down from the 7-11 toward the District. A little hole in the wall.

Where can I buy pastries that are less sweet. I love the bakery near Great Beginnings in Gaithersburg but it is too far for us. We are in Silver spring, MD.
