They need people with experience in investigations who won't be unduly influenced by a school's reputation.

Anyone from DME, OSSE, DCPS and charter board has an innate conflict of interest, IMO. More students, more funding. They all get points for increasing enrollment. Why would any of them be in a hurry to lower numbers? They're counting on PP's child, and all the others waiting, to enroll somewhere in DC while things get "investigated" and "informal" meetings happen.

Maybe complaints about the same school could be batched together now. The principals with the highest numbers have an "informal" meeting with Abigail Smith and the AG. Give the school 3 weeks to clean house, with immunity for registrars who blow the whistle on higher ups.

Tax dollars should be spent on creating a culture of accountability and self-policing by schools. Chasing after babysitters with MD tags or play dates at grandma's house is a waste of time and money.

Our sought-after school's principal went on the offense a couple of years ago. It might have been a bit personal as the principal lives in DC. The tags by the curb are definitely more DC than before. There are probably still cheats, but they have to work a lot harder now that the message is very clear from the top down.

Parents have enough to deal with just putting our kids in DC schools. Why should we have to pay for "contractors" and lawyers if school administrators aren't doing their jobs?
