We did see kids dressed in period costumes, and a lot of boys with tricorner hats.
We spent a 1/2 day at Yorktown, including lunch at the waterfront pub in town, the battlements and the Victory Center, which has farm animals BTW. On a sunny day it might be fun to play in the sand on the river beach there or do a tall ship tour. 1/2 day at Jamestown, including the discovery center (museum, indian village, ship and fort) and a short hike to the river, but not the park service (i.e. actual site) center. That is a beautiful area, would be fun for bike riding. 1/2 day at Williamsburg, could have got there earlier but the 4 year old would have pooped out. Spent a bit of time at the Kingsmill indoor pool, restaurants, riverfront marina & beach, and gameroom. If we had the whole week I would have gone over to the USS Monitor Museum, there is also Norfolk maritime museum, Portsmouth waterfront boat taxi & restaurants, and VA Beach if you are feeling adventurous. Canoeing on the Chickahominy. And there's an indoor bouncy house in north Williamsburg if the weather turns bad.
