Not sure Busch Gardens will even be open in late March, will it? Maybe on the weekend.

My kids love Williamsburg and have been going every year or two since they were quite young. DD dressed in a period dress when she was about 8. DS is considering going to college there. Busch Gardens is also fun, especially if your kids like rides (one of mine hates them). No reason not to do both.

Busch Gardens is tons of fun.

PP: Sorry your kids 12:13 can't appreciate history. There is nothing wrong with Busch Gardens though. Just do not see any reason to have to choose between them. Won't it be too early for the waterparks?
We did see kids dressed in period costumes, and a lot of boys with tricorner hats.
We spent a 1/2 day at Yorktown, including lunch at the waterfront pub in town, the battlements and the Victory Center, which has farm animals BTW. On a sunny day it might be fun to play in the sand on the river beach there or do a tall ship tour. 1/2 day at Jamestown, including the discovery center (museum, indian village, ship and fort) and a short hike to the river, but not the park service (i.e. actual site) center. That is a beautiful area, would be fun for bike riding. 1/2 day at Williamsburg, could have got there earlier but the 4 year old would have pooped out. Spent a bit of time at the Kingsmill indoor pool, restaurants, riverfront marina & beach, and gameroom. If we had the whole week I would have gone over to the USS Monitor Museum, there is also Norfolk maritime museum, Portsmouth waterfront boat taxi & restaurants, and VA Beach if you are feeling adventurous. Canoeing on the Chickahominy. And there's an indoor bouncy house in north Williamsburg if the weather turns bad.

My 7 and 4 year old love Busch Gardens...we go every summer. we usually walk around colonial wburg in the mornings before we hit the park. And they are always chomping at the bit to get to the park and leave the "old timey part" My 7 year old is just now getting interested in history so we might do both this summer.

Agree! Your children are a great age for the amusement park. They will probably have the most fun there.

I agree to do both, but do Colonial Williamsburg BEFORE Busch Gardens, or it may seem a little boring to your kids...

And I'm not the PP who suggested buying the period costumes, but I HAVE seen lots of kids wearing them there. I think you can rent them too--if you don't want to buy them.

Colonial Williamsburg is way fun and very interesting. Stay on the property. Woodlands has suites to give you a little extra room, and the buses are right there to take you to the historical area, or on a side trip to Jamestown. Or stay in one of the historical properties in the historical area.

Buy the kids period costumes to wear (buy them there.). Take a horse and carriage ride. Lots of great activities to do.

Colonial Williamsburg is neither fun nor fabulous. Don't fool yourself.

We want to take a short trip during Spring Break with our 7 year-old twins (3-4 days max). We're thinking about putting together a short trip to Williamsburg. The amusement park sounds fun but I'm not sure if it's age-appropriate, and we're wondering if Colonial Williamsburg is enjoyable or if it's on the dull side. Anyone done this in recent years? If so, do you have a suggested itinerary, place to stay, places to eat? All recommendations welcome!
