DC is second grader and was just selected for full time AAP. He has been doing subject specific AAP since the beginning of first grade. However the most recent MAP score for winter and spring is concerning. He scored 95 and 97 percentile respectively. Given a lot of AAP kids scoring 99+ percentile, I’m concerned if he could keep up next year. His report card shows all 4 in math and he was taught above grade math, so I’m not sure where the problem is. What can I do this summer to help him improve the score or test taking skill?
He's fine. Many kids in AAP also study ahead outside via RSM etc. So they SHOULD get 99+% when they put in the work. but back in school AAP curriculum could be 1-2 years behind the 99+% kid. It's up to you to keep at current level or spend money to get that 5% improvement but spending a lot of time/money to learn ahead.
