Hate on spray sunscreen all you want, it’s been a life changer for me. Super fair skin and got a lot of bad sunburns as a kid, partially because the available sunscreen options were terrible. It works and is easy to apply.
Everyone should absolutely use sunscreen when exposure is inevitable. However, normal sunscreen is not terrible. You apply it as if applying lotion. ALL of it goes on your skin and protects you. Its not difficult. Hack: Use latex (or similar) gloves to apply. It will spread better and no mess on your hands but this is a minor thing. I'd bet 80% of spray sunscreen is wasted by blowing away or hitting something besides your skin. The cost per square foot of skin protected has to be 20x compared to typical sunscreen. Even better hack is to wear a hat, swim shirt etc when possible. But lotion is way, way better than spray.
