My classes are typically operating at 50-70% attendance these days thanks to AP/IB/SOL/makeup testing and the excused absences the rest of the day on standardized test days. I am not doing projects (my classes don't align well with projects, we are still working through the last unit until final exam review begins) but that makes it really difficult for the absent kids to catch up with all the missed classes. Those kids have to teach themselves the missed material or arrange to come after school to get support, make up missed work, etc. I cannot excuse them from it; it's part of our curriculum and they have to be held accountable for it, but it's a lot to make up. The kids have actually been asking for projects, because then it is easy to work on them when they are present and catch up from home if they miss too many days.[/quote]
