We have a La-z-boy reclining couch and love it! We went all over in search of a comfy couch and had the hardest time. I will say that I would avoid Ikea couches. I think they are fine if they are put somewhere where they won't be used much, but I don't think they are comfortable at all. Certainly not for your main couch. We had a Value City one before the La-z-boy and it was junk after about 4 years.
I'm the Value City poster. Our couch has made it 12 years. It was one of their higher end couches, and I made sure it was DAMN comfortable when I was searching for it. Granted, for a few years of its life, it got moved to a vacation home my family owned, but it is still in pretty good shape. You have to do the same thing with IKEA couches - don't buy their cheapest one and expect it to be comfortable or last a while. As with pretty much all furniture from the discount stores - you can find decent stuff, you just have to be willing to buy the more expensive stuff in their stores to get it.
