We just replaced our 30 yr old sectional from offenbacher with a sectional from Bassett.

Macys...Their prices are surprisingly good and they have plenty of furniture sales, at least they used to.

I'm the Value City poster. Our couch has made it 12 years. It was one of their higher end couches, and I made sure it was DAMN comfortable when I was searching for it. Granted, for a few years of its life, it got moved to a vacation home my family owned, but it is still in pretty good shape.

You have to do the same thing with IKEA couches - don't buy their cheapest one and expect it to be comfortable or last a while. As with pretty much all furniture from the discount stores - you can find decent stuff, you just have to be willing to buy the more expensive stuff in their stores to get it.

OP - I'm curious as to why you are replacing the Lazy Boy? We bought a sectional, sofa-bed, leather couch from Ashley about seven years ago. We love it. Then like clockwork, within weeks of the 7th anniversary the leather started peeling. In a matter of months it went from perfect to trashy. My husband was thinking Lazy Boy should be next, but I want quality. At a reasonable price.

We got a $4k couch for about $1800. If you check online they have a lot of custom couches that get returned for whatever reason. I saw one I liked on the website, went in to see the floor sample at the store on 14th and then bought it online in the store. It's an awesome couch. Made in NC and looks like a million bucks.

another vote for Bob's Discount Furniture. it's only been about 3 months now, but it is holding up beautifully and was very affordable. they just don't have a huge selection.

i wouldn't go with ikea, personally. and not because i'm high brow or anything (obviously, i bought my sofa at bob's) but because ikea sofas aren't that comfortable or hold their shape well.

Just got the 93" Lounge sofa from Crate&Barrel. We love it. Family of 4 comfortably sprawl out on with plenty of room left-over..has deep seat too.

We are getting ready to replace the most uncomfortable living room couch. It is a La-Z-Boy (NOT one of the reclining types), about 7-8 years old.

Need some recommendations for stores/brands that sell very comfortable couches that are less than $2k. I've looked at Broyhill couches and I think they either make the La-Z-Boy couch that we have or something very similar.

We also considered the Ikea Ektorp, as it seems to get great reviews all over the Internet, but my husband is 6'2" and the seat doesn't seem wide enough for taller people. Must be comfortable for lounging as the living room is our main TV-watching room of the house.
