My dog escaped our yard. Normally they come back on their own but this time they didn’t so we posted to: Facebook, Nextdoor, reported to the humane society and started looking for them by foot. The dog is chipped and has their rabies collar. I figured I’d also call their vet (who we’ve been seeing for 3 years and I just dropped $1200 with last month on a dental cleaning) and let them know the dog is missing in case anyone brings them in or calls them as they’re listed on his chip too. The receptionist acted like I was crazy to let them know he was missing and just said “if someone brings him here we won’t hold him”. I don’t except them to hold him, just giving them a head up in case someone comes in with the dog. Am I wrong to think that someone might bring the dog to the vet listed on the rabies tag and that they’d let me know? I’d also expect them to hold him for an hour or so and I’d fully expect pay for them to hold him too.
I would get a better vet. out chipped dog escaped and was taken to out local vet. They called and I went and got the dog. there was no charge.
