Child is not enjoying high school and wants to fast track credits for college in Maryland. Is it possible to do all of senior year at Montgomery College if you haven't taken any classes there prior to senior year? They meet the GPA criteria.
Yes, MCPS will pay for 2 classes for fall and spring semester. If you wanted to carry a full load, the parents would need to pay for the additional 3 classes. MCPS senior year only requires English and English 101 at MC is considered 1.0 credit. In MCPS, English 12A/12B are each 0.5 credits. So after the fall semester at MC, your kid is essentially done with all their requirements for MCPS. Beyond GPA, as long as your kid has 1.0 credits each in Health, PE, and Tech, they will be allowed to register at MC.
MCPS also requires a Math course in Senior year as students must have 4 years of HS Math. Students who started taking HS Math in Middle School end up with like 5 or 6 math credits in total
They don’t count MS, just high school.
