Subject: Can senior year be done entirely at MC?
The answer is yes. I'm a HS teacher who knows of many students who do this. You must be enrolled in math every year of HS and you need 4 years of English. Students can take ENGL 101 and a math (plus 2 other electives or classes of their choosing). I believe students must be enrolled in a minimum of 4 classes to retain MCPS status. Other poster is correct that MCPS will only pay for 2 classes, possible grant for a 3rd (family income under 100K), definitely have to pay for 4th.

I thought math in MS counted, if it is a math course typically taken in HS.
It’s counted for credit, but not a graduation requirement. They have to take four years of math and English in hs. Other ms classes do count toward graduation requirements.

My kid did Algebra in 6. His SGGCR shows 3.0 credits under the Pre HS column. Since he has to take math for all 4 years of HS, he'll graduate with 7 credits of math. For math, the driver is the number of years of HS math, not the number of credits.
Mine too. They still list mat for senior year.

This but we were told you could only do a half day and had to go to hs the other half.

Yes! As others have said, English 101 is needed for the last HS English credit, and they should be enrolled in math both semesters. If your child knows what they are interested in for a college major, they can enroll in that degree program, which will give some focus to their classes. Otherwise, they can craft a reasonable schedule that will satisfy general ed requirements at most public universities for credit transfer.

This was back in like 2010 but my sister chose to drop out and get a GED her junior year and start at MC a year early. Transferred to a 4 year school as a transfer student the following year and everything worked out.

In theory I think this is possible but MCPS will only pay for a limited number or credits and you will need to pay the remainder out of pocket. MCPS will pay for all credits for kids in early college and similar programs, but you can’t join those programs mid-stream.
