Impossible to know, but more than likely, they just haven't updated their ads yet.
Probably this. Ad buys are often for a date range set by the platform, which means it’s almost impossible to perfectly line up the start and ends dates you’d really like for whatever thing you’re advertising. In order to keep your ad going through the date you need, you often have to run it longer than necessary.
I don’t think this is true!
What don’t you think is true?
I work in ad buys and you get really precise ad dates now adays (unless you are buying a billboard and even those are mostly digital)... that being said, a lot of them can leave the end date open and a lot of smaller places (aka they have an admin not an an ad agency running their ads) leave the date open and just go in to switch out small details, such as what year you are applying for, every year. The platforms typically have the ability to automatically switch, but I doubt the independent schools have someone so dedicated to their ads that they know how.
It sounds like you have current experience so I’ll definitely defer to you. I used to work in marketing for a performing arts venue in the area, but it was 15ish years ago. We often had flights with ad runs that had a set ending date past the performance we were advertising. As you note, for digital ads (and some radio) we usually had the capability to swap out for a different ad and there was always a later show we could sub in. But I was assuming that for a school that a) they probably don’t have the staff to stay on top of tweaks like that and b) may not have something else to sub in, as schools pretty much only advertise about applying for admission.
15 years ago would have absolutely been the time when there were set runs. I would say most things have shifted to every date can be choosen since the pandemic. Of course, the jicker is, does the admin running the ad know tbat or are they still running things based on how they learned to do it 10 years ago (which is the way most smaller placed do things).
