Needless to say, I want to change both bank and credit card. Can anyone name a bank where they have experience with how the bank handles problems? And they did right by you quickly? Does anyone recommend a credit card that is actually good to deal with if anything goes wrong? The backstory: I just wasted much of a week trying to get my credit card bill paid using my savings account. A problem with the bank meant that my automatic monthly payment didn't go through. So after 18 years of missing no payments, the credit card (Barclays) immediately placed a hold on my card. There was no grace period, and even a supervisor claimed there was no way to lift the hold. (Is that normal nowadays? I wouldn't know.) I made multiple calls to customer service and frequently got wrong or insufficient information from both places. Part of the problem is that the bank is really a CU with only 3 branches, and it would take me an hour to drive there. The shared branching no longer has a convenient place either. Grr.
