More importantly, if BRVA did not accept their qualifier bids, why should the CHRVA region allow them in the regional bid tournament? They clearly have no interest attending USAV Nationals. Nothing against BRVA. Just feel bad for the team(s) they will beat in the regional bid tourny.
It's a good question. They have turned down bids at qualifiers in prior seasons. The past few years they've flip flopped on going or not going to CHRVA bid regionals. They didn't send any teams last year but it looks like their teams from 14-17 are registered for this year. I agree if they turn down a bid from a qualifier then they shouldn't be able to compete at bid regionals.
I totally disagree. BRVA is one of the 3 top teams in the CHRVA and should be able to compete. What they choose afterwards is their pregorative. The CHRVA Girls Bid Regional Championships are based on the top teams.
I agree BRVA is a top CHRVA club, but that has nothing to do with the rules around bid regionals. It's laid out pretty clearly in CHRVA's "2026 Regional Requirements for Participation in Regionals [ GIRLS BID ]" posted at: https://cdn2.sportngin.com/attachments/document/1d1a-2794789/2026_CHRVA_Junior_Girls_Bid_Tournament_57_.pdf "Any team may apply to compete in the Bid Regional Championships, but by doing so, is committing to competing in the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships at either the National, Freedom, or American division, should they win a Region bid. The total number of bids to be awarded for each age group is not determined until May. Bid Tournament play will be conducted to determine first through eighth place for 13’s – 18’s and first through fourth place for 11’s-12’s. For all age groups, if additional bids are secured after the Region’s Bid tournament, the Bid bracket finish will be used to determine which teams receive the additional bids. If there are ties in the Final Standings, the Total Point % will be used to break the tie. Should a team earn a bid to the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships at the CHRVA Regional Championships and then fail to compete at the National Championships, they forfeit their tournament fee and are subject to sanctioning."
