Each practice session is 2 hours? They are likely split into hour 1 and hour 2, and kids either chose one or they are split (young/old or something). More is better, but generally nothing bad happens if you don't get to all of them. But if you don't go a lot, you won't get better, either. What bridge program is this? Do they actually go to meets? I think that if your child has "finished" lessons, they are good to go for summer swim. Yes, at a top division team a 9 year old walk on won't be swimming any A meets, but in the bottom third it could happen.
It’s split practice time, so each practice is dryland plus pool. I think it’s 45 minutes of dry land followed by 80-90 minutes of pool. DC has finished basics in terms of moving through required levels and rotary breathing, but not really mastered the strokes. There are 10 levels and DC is at level 6, which is what they say is required to try out for competitive teams. The summer tryout is for a non or pre competitive team meant to help prep kids who want to try out for competitive year round.
