More is better, but generally nothing bad happens if you don't get to all of them. But if you don't go a lot, you won't get better, either.

What bridge program is this? Do they actually go to meets? I think that if your child has "finished" lessons, they are good to go for summer swim. Yes, at a top division team a 9 year old walk on won't be swimming any A meets, but in the bottom third it could happen.

It’s split practice time, so each practice is dryland plus pool. I think it’s 45 minutes of dry land followed by 80-90 minutes of pool. DC has finished basics in terms of moving through required levels and rotary breathing, but not really mastered the strokes. There are 10 levels and DC is at level 6, which is what they say is required to try out for competitive teams. The summer tryout is for a non or pre competitive team meant to help prep kids who want to try out for competitive year round.

I don't see pricing for example on the Bethesda Barracudas.

We are new to swim. Can anyone explain swim and summer swim expectations? DC9 is joining a bridge program (between lessons and competitive swim team). Practices are listed as 3x/week preseason in May, and then 4x/week over the summer. Each practice is over 2 hours! Are kids expected to join all 4 practices each week, or is that just when practices are available? What about vacation weeks when we are out of town for 1 week? We are signed up for an info session next month, but wondering what is common.

It depends on the team. Another vote for the Bethesda Barracudas, which does not require pool membership. They offer practices at night, from 8:00-9:00 pm- super helpful for working parents!

If so I guess its the Bethesda Barracudas

Inverness and Tilden Woods often take out of area members. Both are nice pools with great teams!

But you still have to be a member to join their teams.

Takoma Park All-Stars are the Summer Swim team closest to you. They're in the Prince-Mont Swim League.

Hey, any recommendations on summer swim teams in DC (NE if possible) and/or MD (we in a Brookland), for a for a 8 year old. I know DC Wave has one but it's at 4 PM. we looking for something later. We can't join a private pool this year.
