Many of these outbreaks seem to involve an unvaccinated US citizen or resident raw dogging international travel to third world countries where measles remains endemic and then bringing it home where it spreads like wildfire among their unvaccinated community. Then those same people travel to visit their friends and continue the spread.

There are some epidemiologists that have speculated that measles is no longer eradicated due to the drop in herd immunity.

I could go on and on about why you invest in global health because as long as people travel a risk in Pakistan is a risk in the United States. But these smooth brain anti-vaxxers would prefer to just be racist and stupid than do anything mildly unpleasant to protect their kids from the inevitable.

If I heard that a serial killer was on the loose and attacking children, I wouldn’t be sleeping with the first floor windows open and the doors unlocked, but apparently that is just how they roll. [/quote]
