I'm 54 and am done with all of that. Things would be smoothed over if I contacted her and made nice, but it would all just happen again and again.

Anyway, after my father texted me on the holidays last year (why bother if you don't want to talk to me the rest of the year?), I decided I didn't care to hear from him. He didn't protect me from my mother's abuse and continues to placate her, so contact, if there ever is any, will be on my terms. [/quote]
