And engineering is the most competitive major there is today. It attracts the strongest students. In engineering, there really isn't a lot of difference in the quality of students applying to Purdue and Maryland compared to students applying to Stanford and Penn. There's a lot of overlap among applicants in this major. So it wouldn't be uncommon for someone that got into Purdue for engineering to also have gotten into various top 20 schools. And of course, most students will pick Duke or Northwestern for instance over Purdue or UMD - if price isn't a factor. But the difference among students in engineering is negligible. If you were accepted into Purdue engineering, you probably have lots of options. [/quote]
