At our ES, Teachers encouraged parents to apply if they thought AAP was needed and the kid had not been placed in the program. This is pretty much what Principal Placement is supposed to do. If your child is placed in the LLIV class by the Principal, then I would apply for the program. Or if a Teacher encouraged me, I would apply.

Strict criteria like that is a bit insane. My kid's 2nd grade teacher thought he was a good fit for AAP and this year's 4th grade teacher reiterated that at the parent conference, but he (just barely) doesn't meet your parameters. [/quote]

But, maybe reevaluate the kids who are getting pulled out for extra help because they can't keep up...[/quote]
