So, a few years back, JMU made the final four of the Women's College World Series. They beat Oklahoma. Their third baseman was 4' 11". Their pitcher became a superstar. I know softball isn't football, but size isn't everything. And stranger things have happened. I was fine with JMU and Tulane in it. I'm more bothered by Alabama being in it, let alone ranked as high as it was.
Except, in order to get to the College World Series, it started with 64 teams, and JMU had to win their Regional of 4 teams, then win their Super Regional, and then make the College World Series. Nobody thinks it's wrong for a Cinderella team to win the NCAA basketball tournament because they allow so many teams to participate and they "earn" their spot in the the Sweet 16 or Elite 8. If College Football started with 30 teams, nobody would care if JMU was included...the problem with football is you can't play games the next day, so they would have to have colleges finish their regular seasons in mid-November and then start the playoffs. Not impossible to do, but unlikely. I think it expands to 16 teams next year.
