Life is full of rejection.  Maybe take the kid who didn’t get in to view the other schools again - weekends when students are actually there not over winter break. So they can get a better understanding  and see the school not when admissions is trying to “sell” it.  Attend an athletic event, go to the university museum, sign up for a talk.
