Very few my friend at our non-DMV private. All the accepts were hooked athletes with qualified (meets minimum) pre-reads but nothing extraordinary. They are not the best students at our school, but they are solid and they take tough classes. The true academic standouts without hooks were all denied this ED1 round. Really think it's a waste of time and effort to apply to a tiny school like WASP unhooked TBH.
Couldn’t disagree more. My daughter was admitted to Williams, Amherst and Bowdoin unhooked last year in RD. She attends one and most of her friends on campus are the same.
DP: I think the previous poster meant to say it's a waste of time to apply to these small schools ED unhooked, as ED slots tend to be taken by athletes, children of donors, and FGLI applicants. RD, some unhooked kids will be accepted (though the odds remain small).
