I take it because I have Type 2 diabetes and it controls my A1C. Interestingly, I haven't lost any real weight on it -- maybe 7 or 8 pounds -- although I lost a bunch without drugs when I first got my diagnosis about three years ago (I had to attack the Covid weight gain). So basically, I lost about 50 pounds, got put on Ozempic at first, didn't lose any weight. Doc said let's get some more weight off you so put me on Mounjaro. Weight hasn't really moved on it, either. But my A1C is great -- 5.4 at my last checkup. What's killing me about Mounjaro is it has absolutely killed food for me. Eating is like a chore (and sometimes I just don't do it). I have these weird periods where I am ferociously hungry -- the kind where you feel like you might vomit. But it usually passes after a couple of minutes or so. But then comes meal time ... and ... just nothing appeals. It's bizarre. Like, I know I need to eat because it's dinner time. But NOTHING is appealing. So I'll fix something, last night it was a simple meatloaf, take about four bites of it, but meh. Same thing at breakfast. Lunch is rarely anything more than a little cottage cheese. Even foods like pizza, burgers, etc. have no appeal. Sometimes I wish I could enjoy food again.
