There are many avenues to success, but you need to start reading responsible educational reporting, such as The Wall Street Journal and The Chronicle of Higher Education, and meet regularly with your high school college counselor. Get on top of this now! Get vocational testing (free at public schools), get IQ testing, and take advantage of any freebies the school offers.
