I will assume that your DD has little to no club experience and that's the reason why you are looking at lesser known clubs. If that's the case, I feel like the MOCO and Metro tryouts are a waste of time. You can think of Platform 14 as a safe club - consider yourself lucky if you make their #1 team, but you will likely be offered a spot on their #2 or #3 team. Your overall experience will depend a lot on who will be coaching and how many players they take on the rosters. Last season they loaded the rosters too much and some parents will not return because their kids were benched in most tournaments (or got minimal court time).

Closer to you may be Rockville Volleyball Association (RVA), but this is a club that travels for the sake of travelling. They could find plenty of local tournaments, but they prefer to play in neighboring states instead. This might be a good combination of a lesser known club with a decent chance for a beginner to make a team (if you don't mind the travel). [/quote]
