The mistake is right there in the first sentence. The pandemic is not over. People are still getting COVID quite a lot. And here are all these younger people dying. I wonder what could explain it? It's a mystery to these writers, who accept the premise that we are "post-pandemic."

We call influenza pandemic with some frequency, actually.
