In the months in between those two dates, DD went through a really difficult time at school with bullying and we decided to accept an offer from a private school that we had applied to “just in case” earlier that year. There is a ton of overlap between the families at our old school and our current neighborhood so our neighborhood has lost some of the appeal that it used to have for us.

Her new school is across town but very close to family and her sports. We’d long considered moving to that neighborhood but felt tied to our existing neighborhood and private school community.

Now we’re sitting here in what was supposed to be our dream house and it feels like a pair of jeans that don’t fit.

Is it crazy to decide to move? We wouldn’t be able to list until spring 2026 and we did enough improvements that I’m 100% sure we’ll lose money and not need to worry about capital gains.

I feel like an idiot and wish I could have predicted what went down at school.[/quote]
