[/quote] I didn’t take the question to literally mean “where within the legal borders of Thailand should I visit” but more “I am flying into Bangkok, where should I visit from there.” Sorry to offend you and if OP intended the former, but I mentioned Siem Reap specifically because some people don’t realize how easy it is to visit from Thailand (usually). Siem Reap is half the distance from Bangkok that Chiang Mai is, and instead of spending your time visiting abused elephants you can visit Angkor Wat, one of the wonders of the world. (And frankly it’s not that uncommon to see people suggesting adding Paris on to a trip to London.) [/quote]
